Pani Popo (coconut bread) is the perfect sweet dish to bring to a holiday party. This is comfort food at it’s best. Here is our version of this recipe that we wanted to share with you, so you can be the most popular person at your Christmas gathering!
Serves 12, Prep Time 10 mins, Cook Time 15 mins
1 can (10 oz) Coconut Milk
3 Tbsp Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2 c Sugar
1/2 Tbsp Corn Starch
1 package KING’S HAWAIIAN Original Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Separate dinner rolls and place evenly in a baking tray or skillet.
In a pot, bring coconut milk, condensed milk, cornstarch, and sugar over to a boil then turn to low heat until sugar is dissolved and mixture thickens (about 5 minutes).
Use a fork to poke holes in rolls (this will help the bread soak up the liquid mixture), then evenly pour coconut mixture over the rolls.
Place tray in oven for 6-8 minutes until tops are a rich golden brown and enjoy!
CHEF’S NOTE: Top with raw turbinado sugar for a subtle crunch!
